Slo Poks at Billetproof Nor Cal, Antioch

Finally get to see Alan and Melissa's Chevy panel truck.  Guy, Bart and Rhonda, Bart's wife, made the trip to Antioch, California for the Billetproof show.  It was cool to see a fairgrounds full of new to us Billetproof cars.  Even though the show was in "sunny" California, the show was hit with some rain for a couple of hours, but the sun was back out by 3PM.  Bart and Guy assembled and awarded 2 trophies, Best Truck and Real Mill.  Don Pennington graciously donated 2 copies of the Slo Pok book to go along with the trophies.  It was a fun adventure to cover 1300 miles, see a great show, make some new friends, see old ones, all in 3 days!

This '50 Vicky was the Best of Show
winner, who happen to be pals with
the Slo Poks Best Truck pick.

Poks Pik for Best Truck.  This '28 Model A was built from a sedan that had been converted to a truck during WWII.  The back of the cab was just wood.  This truck was built and is owned and driven everywhere by Roger Scott.

292 Y block with tri power!

This unchopped cab is low, and the
truck is all springs, this IS the
ride height!

This is the striper that made our Best Truck
trophy look cool. . great job!

Guy presenting Roger Scott with his trophy.  He was genuinely excited to get the award, which he said will be cherished and go in a special place in his shop.  We also gave the winner a copy of the Slo Poks book courtesy of Don Pennington.  Roger was very interested in reading the book and finding out more about these guys from up north.

This the talented striper that fixed up the Real Mill
award for us.

This is the Real Mill winner, Frankie and his friend.  He brought a 1964 Mandella flat bottom boat with a beautifully detailed Buick Nailhead.  It was cool, as they got real excited when they saw Al Drake's name on the book, as they have all his other books. . . sorry DP.
