Slo Poks, Brotherhood of Speed, Vancouver WA

Slo Poks one and only Jack Theroux, gate master, hard at work!

On Saturday August 18th, the Uptown Village Association and the Slo Poks car club of Vancouver, put on the very first Uptown Village Show and Shine. The show and shine was designed to benefit the Hough Foundation, which supports local schools with resources and school supplies for the upcoming school year. Main Street was barricaded off for this special event from Fourth Plain to McLoughlin so the show cars and spectators could fill the streets. The show was well attended with nearly the capacity of 150 high quality cars on display on picturesque Main Street. Spectators and participants could take part in a huge raffle for tons of cool prizes gathered by the Slo Poks. There were special awards for the winners, all one of a kind hot rod themed trophies, works of art actually, hand crafted by the Slo Poks members. The Slo Poks (who is celebrating their 60th anniversary this year!) provided all of the volunteer man hours power to put the show and shine on, run the show and cleanup afterwords. The event brought together communities of people to enjoy a great day with their passions, ranging from great coffee, fine dining and antique shopping to custom cars and hot rods! All for a great cause, supporting the local schools. Look for this great event next year!
